My first exhibition - The London Photo Show 2024
I visited The London Photo Show last year and was enthralled by the quality and diversity of entries. When the opportunity came up, through the Urban Photographers Club (UPC), to take part in the exhibition this year, I was excited to do so and put my name forward. Originally, the members of UPC who had decided to take part (eight of us, I think) each purchased our own space and we were to have our own ‘room’ in the Bargehouse Exhibition Space (behind the OXO Tower on the SouthBank). I had planned to have six square photographs and went ahead and got them done. I was extremely lucky to be put in touch with a local guy who was able to print, mount and frame them for me.
Fast forward a few months and six weeks prior to the event, we heard that the Bargehouse had got problems with the roof and that the exhibition could not go ahead there. The organiser had to find another venue and inform all the photographers. (an enormous amount of work I imagine). However, this meant that we could not have our original space and would need to put together a display of only two photographs each - either in landscape or portrait mode. This meant that I couldn’t use any of the square ones I had prepared. It will teach me not to get too ahead in future!!
Anyway, eventually we all pulled together and are ready to exhibit at this year’s London Photo Show at Hoxton Arches Gallery in Shoreditch from November 14th - 17th. It would be great if you are able to come.
Here are the square photographs I was originally going to exhibit. You may have seen some of them before. They include two that will be in the show.
