March 2023

The weather has been awful this month so it has been difficult to go out and take photographs in the street. However, this has meant that I have done a lot of reading and watching YouTube clips about photography. I have also entered many competitions on Photocrowd for fun. Here are a few photos that did OK. Quite a random collection I admit.

Waiting in Zermatt

I have become inspired by Sean Tucker; who makes amazing videos on YouTube. I have read his book 'The Meaning in the Making' which I found to be a wonderful read as it appealed to my interests in philosophy, psychology and personal development (no photographs). He has a great voice, so I purchased his audio version of Parable - a publication of his - this does have photos. I have also been watching Stephen Leslie, a street photographer who is also very witty, and Alex Kilbee among others.

I have managed to take/make a few photos though and I also went out on a photography session with Gianluca Barbazza from the Hertfordshire Photography Group which was most useful and gave me more insight into taking photographs of people in the street. As well as this, I went into London this week (with my new camera and 24mm lens) to try it out. I managed to get a few 'reflections' and some random shots.

I am now going to concentrate on trying to take photos with particular themes in mind as well as improving my skills in capturing light and shadows, framing, composition, creating depth and looking for interesting subjects.

Thanks for reading.
