Future thinking

Well, what do I write about after this week?! (I live in the U.K.)

I was going to post another blog but my mind was a fog. Sometimes when this happens, poetry beckons. Apologies for the rhymes, but they are needed in these times. (I have written a lot of poetry over the years).

If you have read my previous blogs you will know that I am a fan of Mike Berners-Lee, the author of There is No Planet B. The following poem was inspired by the final chapters of his book; 'Values, Truth & Trust' and 'Thinking Skills for Today's World'.

No Planet B (thanks for the inspiration Mike Berners-Lee)

In these global times

I turn to poetry and rhymes

Stand back and observe

Our universal world

Think big picture

How things fit together

We need to read the truth

And listen to the youth

Be kind to the next generation

We don't need another gas station

Contemplate our future planet

No suffocating CO2 blanket

Be grounded in reality

Plant another tree

One side, too much greed

The other in dire need

There is much complexity

But let us have empathy

Take time to understand

The challenges at hand

Get out from your comfort zone

Take a risk, don't postpone

The earth is in our hands

Let's save our precious lands.
